LaCrosse Farmer's Festival will honor local veterans

The LaCrosse Farmer’s Festival returns this weekend with food, events and contests for both kids and adults. Things rev up Friday, June 21, with barbecue 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bank of Eastern Washington.

Festivities will commence Saturday with a breakfast served at the LaCrosse Café from 8 to 10 a.m.

From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. attendees can buy T-shirts, Italian sodas, snow cones and beverages on Main Street and at the city park.

LaCrosse Community Pride will host a silent auction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Store Building. All ages are welcome to bid.

Some items up for auction are a one night stay for six people at the Hotel Glenmore at Hooper during October, an historic tour of Hooper and barbecue meal.

This year’s parade, with a theme of “honoring our brave,” will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Main Street. Veterans from around the area are invited to participate as Grand Marshall’s in the parade. Line up starts at 9 a.m. at the Scale House.

Judge’s will pick winners of the float contest. Winners will receive a cash prize.

The festival photo contest will display entries from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bank of Eastern Washington on Main Street. Winners of the contest will be announced at 1:30 p.m. at the city park and will receive gift certificates.

For the first time, the LaCrosse FFA will host a cornhole/bean bag toss tournament, the competition will begin at 1 p.m. in the park. Entry fee is $20 for a two-person team. The first place winner will get a set of cornhole boards made by the LaCrosse ag mechanics class.

A truck and car show will be on Main Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Kids and adults can enjoy creating chalk art at the sidewalk next to the football field from 11 a.m. to noon. Kids can also compete in a money and prize scramble in city park at 1 p.m. Field races will follow at the LaCrosse football field.

The band Soulstice will preform at noon at the city park, during a potluck picnic.

Free swimming will be at LaCrosse City Pool from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

LaCrosse Community Club will host a wine & stein from 6 to 9 p.m. The event features brews from Iron Horse Brewery and Goose Ridge Wines.

To end the festival, attendees can dance the night away at the annual street dance at Pastime Tavern from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., with an live outdoor band.
