Grad tally for 2019 down 10 from last year

Over the next two weekends, high schools in Whitman County will hold commencement ceremonies to mark the graduation of 329 students.

This year’s class of 2019 totals 10 students less than last year.

Other numbers from past years include 299 in 2017, 287 in 2016 and 306 in 2015.

Four schools – Oakesdale, LaCrosse, Pullman and St. John/ Endicott – increased their senior enrollment numbers by a total of 16 students compared to last year.

Rosalia, Colfax and Garfield/Palouse saw their number of graduating seniors decrease by 26 since last year.

Graduation counts at Colton and Tekoa remained the same.

Saturday, June 1, Colfax and Colton seniors will graduate at 11 a.m. Students from Garfield/ Palouse will graduate at 1 p.m. Saturday and Oakesdale seniors will graduate at 1:30 p.m.

St. John/Endicott commencement will be the next day, Sunday, June 2, at 2 p.m.

The following weekend, the rest of Whitman County schools will hold their commencement ceremonies. Seniors at Rosalia and Tekoa will receive their diplomas June 8 at 2 p.m.

LaCrosse students will graduate June 8 at 11 a.m.

All ceremonies will be at the respective high schools.

Pullman will award diplomas to 208 seniors June 8 beginning at 5 p.m. in WSU’s Beasley Coliseum.

Garfield/Palouse will graduate 18 students this year, a decrease from the 24 students last year.

Colton will graduate 11 seniors, the same number of graduates from 2017 and 2018.

Colfax will graduate 40 students this year, a decrease from 55 seniors last year.

St. John/Endicott will graduate 19 students compared to 17 from last year.

LaCrosse will graduate five seniors, also an increase from three students last year.

Oakesdale will graduate 11 students, compared to seven seniors last year.

Rosalia will graduate eight seniors this year, a decrease from 13 the previous year.

Tekoa will graduate nine seniors, the same count as last year.
