Brewster stops Colfax boys in regional baseball round

Colfax baseball season ended right where it did last year with a loss in the second round of the regional playoffs. The Bulldogs, who had to travel to Wenatchee for the regional round after the original site, Ferris of Spokane, was rained out.
Colfax topped Tonasket in the first round to advance the final eight, and then Brewster shut down the Bulldogs in the second game.
Colfax boys edged Tonasket 2-1 in the first game. The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and scored the game winner in the sixth. They had seven hits in the opener.
Brewster, a 7-0 winner over Northwest Christian in the first round, dropped the hammer 11-1 on the Bulldogs in the second game to nail the state ticket to the playoffs.
Asotin, which took wins over Columbia of Burbank and Tri-Cities Prep, bagged a ticket for the final four at Wheeler Field in Centralia.
Asotin played in the regional round at Davis High in Yakima as the number-two NE qualifier after they were downed by the Bulldogs in the league finals last week at Medical Lake.
