Town, school, fire seats up for filing next week

A total of 209 offices in the county will be up for (re)election this November, with the filing period to begin next week.

The lone county office on the election grid is the Port of Whitman County seat held by John Love in commissioner district one.

Races include three council seats in Albion and the mayor’s chair; four city council seats in Colfax, with the mayor’s office as well; four council seats and the mayor in Colton; three council seats and the mayor in Endicott; three council seats in Farmington; three in Garfield; two in Lamont, and the mayor’s seat; three in Malden; three in Oakesdale; five in Palouse, with the mayor; two in St. John, with the mayor; five in Tekoa, with the mayor, and three in Uniontown with the mayor.

Filing period is May 13-17.

Filing forms are available at the Whitman County Elections Department, 304 N. Main Street in Colfax. An online option to file is also available through the county website (whitmancounty.org under the “Auditor” tab).

School board seats up for (re)election include districts at LaCrosse three seats, Lamont five, Tekoa four, Colfax four, Palouse three, Garfield three, Steptoe four, Colton four, Endicott four, Oakesdale two and Rosalia five.

The election filing also includes commissioner posts in 13 county fire districts, seven cemetery districts, four hospital districts and seven park districts.
