For its last meeting of the season, Athenaeum Club presented cash awards to students of Colfax High School for their poetry contest submittals. Each spring, the club organizes the contest to encourage young writers. Winners this year were Ayden Miller, "Lazy Summer Day," first place, $50; Braeden Rogers, "To Dream," second place, $35; Isabella Koyama, "Shifting Gears," third place, $25.

Curtis Schultz was the guest speaker. He shared photos and experiences from his hike along the Grand Canyon. He and a hiking friend recently hiked 26 miles in 14 hours in 122 degree heat.
