Crews work to restore service on railroad line

Crews from Shamrock Construction, Spokane, are now working to apply rock riprap along the north bank of Willow Creek west of LaCrosse. A slide from the steep bank left a sheer earth face next to the ballast of the railroad Jan. 23 and shut down rail shipping on the Palouse River line which serves LaCrosse, Endicott, Mockonema, Winona, Lancaster, St. John and goes through Sunset to Thornton.

A short construction zone has been posted on Highway 26 west of mile marker 101 which is west of the Pampa Elevator.

The railroad rails and ties have been removed from the work zone and the railroad ballast...
