Wilma L. "Billie" Byrne

Wilma L. "Billie" Byrne, 94, former long-time resident of Garfield, died Friday, March 15, 2019, at Fieldstone Memory Care in Yakima.

Born May 16, 1924, at Colfax, to Newton J. and Nellie Crenshaw Huffman, she attended Colfax schools until the family moved to Garfield in 1936. She graduated from the Garfield High School and later attended the Kinman Business College in Spokane.

She and Charles (Chib) Byrne were married Sept. 16, 1943, at Garfield and they made their home at Garfield. She worked at the J.E. Love Company for a few years, started working at the Garfield School in 1957 as a secretary and retired in 1987.

They enjoyed riding and driving their horse teams. She enjoyed her gardening, sewing and cooking.

Mr. Byrne died in 2007.

Survivors include two sons, Michael (Tamie) Byrne, Yakima; Jack (Suzette) Byrne, Enon, Ohio; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 29, 2019, at 11 a.m., at the Garfield Christian Fellowship Church, with Pastor Kathy Kramer officiating. Burial will be at the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, WA.

Memorial may be given to the Charity of the donor's choice.
