Colfax wrestlers wrap season with pizza, awards

Colfax wrestlers, who logged a sixth-place finish in the all lB division of the state mat classic at Tacoma, wrapped up their season with a family team pizza feed Tuesday in the CHS cafeteria.

The team also won the district meet where they topped NE foe Reardan.

Coach Dennis Gransbery noted the team marked a lot of success by scoring a lot of pins during the campaign. Colfax rated 16th among all 368 teams at state in the meet's pin efficiency bracket. The rating is compiled for the number of team pins booked in the shortest amount of time.

The Bulldogs had three state medalists with Augie Allenbach third at 220, Jacob Brown fifth at 182 and Kolby Sisk, fifth at 113.

Gransbery and Assistant Coach Cliff Knauff passed out seven special awards and congratulated the wrestlers on their accomplishments.

Five seniors who marked the end of their mat careers were Garrett Phillips, Gabe Ahmann, Dakota Hall, Chayne Aeschliman and Allenbach.

110-Riane Jones, soph., 9-13 in girls events, the beginner award.

106-Jakob Sisk, frosh., 7-18 4th at district, state entrant.

113-Kolby Sisk, soph., 24-12 1st at district, fifth at state.

120-Nolan Burrill, jr., 26-11 3rd at district, state entrant.

120-Garrett Phillips, senior, 8-8, 2nd at district, state entrant.

138-Kolby Slate, soph., 19-23, 2nd at district, state entrant.

152-Gabe Ahmann, senior, 28-21, 2nd at district, state entrant, team captain, state academic award for weight class.

160-Trentin Ensley, frosh., 16-19 5th at district.

170-Dakota Hall, senior, 17-17, third at district, state entrant.

170-Braeden Rogers, soph., 19-22, second at district, state entrant.

182-Jacob Brown, soph., 22-13, second at district, fifth at state.

182-Regan Noha, frosh., 2-16, third at district.

195-Chayne Aeschliman, senior, 5-17, fourth at district, state entrant.

220-Augie Allenbach, senior, 31-5 with 27 pins, first at district, third at state, academic champion in weight class, Hulkamania and most takedowns awards.
