Babies born within three days have fathers in Army Air Corps on opposite sides of world: At the left are Mrs. George W. Von Arb, nee Pattie Chase, and her daughter, Vonna Kay, born at the clinic here Feb. 8. Major Von Arb, a Kansas City, Kan., resident, is commander of a bomber squadron stationed in England. He was born while his father was in France during World War I and was first seen by his father when nine months old. At the right are Mrs. William Johnson and her baby girl, Helen Jean, born at St. Ignatius Hospital Feb. 11. Staff Sergeant Johnson is a gunner-tender on a B-25 medium bomber stationed in China. Mrs. Johnson, the former Alice Humphries of Bethune, S.C., came here last July to be with her parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. Edgar Johnson, for the duration. The beet sugar convention at the courthouse Saturday afternoon was attended by some 200 farmers, and it is expected that beneficial results will accrue from the meeting.

Prof. E. Fulmer's address was listened to with deep attention. He said that for the last five years the sugar beet question had been receiving more or less attention from scientists, farmers, manufacturers, and capitalists, in many portions of the United States.
