Garfield-Palouse duo will vie for DYW crown

High school juniors Brooke Bankus of Garfield and Lexi Brantner of Palouse will participate in the first locally-offered program to become the Distinguished Young Woman of Garfield-Palouse. The program's theme is "Sweet Success," and will be hosted Sunday, March 10, at 4 p.m. in Garfield at the Silver Creek Connection building, 201 W. Union Street. Participants will compete for more than $1,000 in college scholarships and the opportunity to represent Garfield and Palouse at the state level program, hosted in Pullman.

The March 10 program is open to the public, and tickets are $10 at the door for ages 12 years and older.

The two young women will be evaluated by a panel of five judges.
