Fire destroys Malden house

A fire Feb. 13 destroyed a house in Malden. Rosalia fire crews received the first alarm at 3:04 p.m., and St. John crews assisted at the scene.

Crews were hampered by approximately 18 inches of snow in Malden, and ice also became a factor. Rosalia Chief Bill Tensfeld said they were on the scene until about 10:30 that night. The house had one occupant who was not at home at the time. His dog was found deceased in the building. Cause of the fire is unknown. Pullman Fire Investigator Tony Nuttman investigated the scene.
