Charge cites van damage

A charge of second-degree malicious mischief was filed Jan. 28 in superior court against Jordan Ray Kemp, 23, Pullman. Kemp has been charged with intentionally damaging his mother's minivan, which he had borrowed and neglected to return. According to the Jan. 16 investigation report by Pullman Officer Brock Germer, Kemp left the minivan in the parking lot at Dissmore's store on North Grand in Pullman.

The report said Kemp had borrowed the minivan and failed to return it as promised. When contacted, he told his mother he planned to leave the minivan in the Dissmore's lot and also planned to damage it.

Germer's report said Kemp told him he had been upset with his mother and decided to leave the van in the lot. The arrest report said Kemp allowed Germer to take a photograph of the bottom of his shoes, and the tread pattern on the shoes matched the pattern which was left on the damaged minivan.

One estimate for repairing the mini-van was $5,330, according to the report. The damage also included $152 in towing fees.

Kemp has been summoned to make a first appearance in court Feb. 15.
