Tanya Becker

June 15, 1968 - Jan. 25, 2019

Tanya Rachelle Becker, a lifelong resident of Colfax, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane surrounded by her loving family and friends. Tanya endured a five and a half year battle with breast cancer which she fought with vigor and courage. She was showered with the love and support of her family, friends and the community every step of the way. Tanya filled her years with endless love for her family, especially her children, of whom she was so proud.

She was born on June 15, 1968, in Spokane to Ronald and Annette Davis Taylor and was the oldest of five Taylor children. After graduating from Colfax High School in 1986, Tanya attended Gonzaga University where she majored in English Literature, met many life-long friends and developed a love for the men's basketball team which she religiously watched play on TV.

In 1991, she met Michael Becker, also of Colfax, and they quickly fell in love. Tanya and Mike were married on September 25, 1993, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and made their home in Colfax. She was a devoted wife and mother and selflessly spent as much time as possible with her family. Whether attending school activities with her kids, watching sports, or just spending time at home, her family is what kept her going. Tanya was an avid reader and loved a good book. As a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colfax, Tanya's faith was an important part of her life.

She will be missed by many in the community, but especially by her husband, Mike; her kids, Ciara, Brent, Kelan, Devan, and Vanessa; her granddaughter, Jade; her parents, Ron and Annette; her siblings, Blaise, Justin, Rhani, and Erin; aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. A recitation of the Holy Rosary was Wednesday, January 30 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. A memorial mass to celebrate her life will be Thursday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Committal will be in the Colfax Cemetery. Memorial gifts in her memory are asked to be provided to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Foundation or to the Whitman County Library Foundation.
