Timberwolves stop Colfax bid for league sweep

A run for a Colfax sweep of the first lap of the NE-south hoop league was derailed Saturday night at Tekoa when the host Timberwolves charged over the last two quarters. Tekoa/Rosalia erased most of a 29-22 Colfax lead in the third quarter and then out-scored the Bulldogs 16-8 in the last quarter for a 52-48 win.

The game was expected to be a showdown between the two league neighbors and unfolded in a packed gym.

The loss left Colfax at 4-1 for the first league round, with the second round of league games slated to start Friday when Asotin teams visit Colfax.
