Darrell Libey

Darrell Wayne Libey, 54, of Pullman, passed away Jan. 6, 2019, at his home outside of Pullman, Wash. Darrell was born Oct. 9, 1964, in Pullman to Ronald and Beatrice (Riggins) Libey.

He grew up and attended Pullman schools where he was active in FFA and wrestled. Darrell always worked with area farmers during high school when time allowed. Following his graduation from Pullman High School, Darrell then attended Spokane Community College in Spokane where he received his associate degree in diesel mechanics.

He returned to Pullman, working for a time at Motley & Motley Inc. Darrell went to work for Poe Asphalt Paving Inc., where during his tenure, he worked as a diesel mechanic and a heavy equipment operator. He retired early when his health would not allow him to work any longer.

Darrell was a loving father, son and brother who loved life and all it offered. Spending time with family was very important to Darrell. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and snowmobiling and being outdoors as much as time would allow.

He is survived by his son, Jacob Libey (Schadoe Gamet) of Pullman; daughter, Jessica (Michael) Merkley of Shoreline, Wash .; his parents, Ronald and Beatrice Libey of Pullman; brother, Lyle (Ami) Libey; sister, Linda (Joe) Reynolds and his nieces and nephews. Darrell was loved by everyone he met. His happiness and love of life was contagious.

A family graveside service will be held at the Pullman City Cemetery with a memorial celebration to be planned for a later date. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to http://www.kimballfh.com
