A memorial service for Joyce A. Strong, 79, Potlatch, will be Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Grace Community Church, Potlatch, with Pastor Kathy Kramer officiating. Urn burial will be at a later date at the Garfield Cemetery. She died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at Tekoa Care Center.

Born April 13, 1939, at San Bernardino, Calif., to John and Audra (Mills) Cleavinger, she attended schools at Potlatch. She married George Strong July 20, 1956, at Potlatch, and they made their home at Potlatch. She worked at the Potlatch School District as a custodian for two years. She later worked at Ireland's Inn for several years as a baker and made the big maple bars. She later worked at the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity house at WSU for four years.

Joyce enjoyed baking, quilting and was an avid fan of her grandchildren in all the sports they played.

Survivors include her husband, George, Potlatch; two sons, Mark Strong (Deborah), Rathdrum, Idaho and Jeff Strong, Potlatch; one daughter, Jill Palmer (Larry), Garfield; and one sister, Judy Poirier, Coeur d'Alene; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren

Memorials may be given to the Elmore United Methodist Church at Potlatch; Tekoa Care Center, or the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, Box 63, Potlatch, 83855
