Floyd Wayne Hatley, 90, passed away on December 29, 2018, at The Courtyard in Colfax. Floyd was born in Pullman, Washington, on January 18, 1928, to Hazen and Edna Maxwell Hatley. Shortly after being born, his mother and father moved to Johnson, Washington, where Floyd spent his childhood growing up and attending school. After school, he started working for his father on the family farm.

He married the love of his life, JoAnn Dyer, on July 1, 1950, in Moscow, Idaho. Floyd continued work until entering into the United States Army in 1952. He spent two years in the Army before returning home and starting work.

He worked for the Gilchrist family and also for Potlatch Forest, Inc. before moving to Colfax where he started work for Justy F. Dodgen. He worked for Justy up until the business was sold then became self-employed working as a carpenter. He built nine grandfather clocks and built and remodeled several houses. One of his greatest accomplishments was building the family lake house on Lake Roosevelt. He loved to fish, but most importantly he loved to take his grandchildren fishing on the boat.
