J. Leroy Osterberg

J. Leroy Osterberg died Nov. 12, 2018, at his home in Tensed, Idaho. In accordance with his request, there will be no services.

Born March 29, 1945, to James Orlando and Ella Marie Osterberg of Tensed, he was one of the last students to attend the Tensed school. He learned many of his hunting and fishing skills from his father, then shared those skills with his children and grandchildren.

He received his State of Idaho high school diploma before his son graduated in 1986.

At the age of 12 he began farming with his father for Fox Brothers at Sanders, Idaho. A logger and sawyer, he also worked at several mills, including Pacific Crown, Potlatch, and Plains, Mont. Then he worked for Benewah County and State of Idaho and farmed for Tyler Farms. He retired in 1999.

Survived are his wife of 51 years, Linda Osterberg of Tensed, Idaho; son, Joe (Stacie) Osterberg of Genesee, Idaho; daughter, Jeanne (Ron) Linehan of Lewiston, Idaho, and sisters Frances (Mike) Charles of St. Maries, Idaho, and Susan Ames of Selah; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations can be made to the Hospice of North Idaho or an animal shelter of the donor's choice choice.
