Inspired Palouse juried exhibit culminates with reception, awards, sale

The 2018 Inspired Palouse juried exhibit, sponsored by the Colfax Arts Council, will culminate Saturday, Nov. 17, at an artists reception and sale at The Center gallery at 110 S. Main in Colfax, next to the library. The public is encouraged to join the celebration from 5 to 7 p.m.

Festivities will include hors d’oeuvres, holiday punch, hot drinks and complimentary wine. The exhibit, which has been in the gallery since Oct. 22, can be browsed at leisure and artists will be available to meet with the public.

A total of $700 in cash prizes will be presented between 6 and 6:30 p.m. to wining artists selected by a jury comprised of Ryan Hardesty of Pullman, curator of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at WSU; professional artists Carrie Vielle and Henry Stinson, both living in Colfax, and a Peoples Choice Award selected by the public who have visited the exhibit and voted.

All works in the multimedia exhibit, including paintings, photography, a tapestry, wall sculptures and block prints, are for sale and the public is encouraged to “Give the Gift of Art” this holiday season.

The Colfax Arts Council (CAC) has sponsored Inspired Palouse for two years, beginning in 2017. The variety of media and subjects has proven to be exhilarating. This year, artists were asked to submit artist statements about themselves and the specific works on exhibit.
