Gaylon Hergert

Aug. 8, 1952 - Oct. 14, 2018

Gaylon Hergert, who was 66 years old, suddenly passed away at sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington, on October 14, 2018.

He was born in Colfax, Washington, on August 8, 1952, to Sam and Joyce Hergert. Gaylon married his love, Lea, and together they built a life in St. John, Washington, as they raised their three sons: Chris, John and Adam, and daughter: Joanna.

Gaylon was a kind, caring and loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. His witty character magically turned any sour moment into a laughable and more enjoyable one. He had a natural ability to look at the positives of life and to keep moving forward. Whenever he was faced with a problem, he critically thought about it and was determined to fix it. Whether it be a broken down vehicle, a non-working home air conditioner, or installing an RV tow kit to a vehicle. He once told his son, "if someone is smart enough to build it, you're surely smart enough to fix it." He enjoyed his work, enjoyed tinkering in the garage more and never hesitated to lend a hand to someone in need. He loved his family and tried not taking life so seriously.

He is survived by his wife, Lea; sons: Chris, John and Sam, and Adam and Adrianne, daughter: Joanna and Nate Jones; grandsons: Eric, John, and Joe; granddaughter: Chloe; sister: Robin, and brothers: Terry and Don.

A memorial service was held at St. John Methodist Church on October 20, 2018. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to an organization or charity of your choice.
