Why Lisa Brown?

October 25, 2018

I urge you to vote for Lisa Brown. Lisa deserves your support for many reasons, certainly including her record of working across the aisle to get things accomplished. Here are my top three reasons.

Healthcare: Lisa Brown voted to expand healthcare programs and to lower costs for prescription drugs in Washington State. Rep. McMorris Rodgers voted for a plan that caused many thousands of eastern Washington residents to lose their healthcare plans, voted against lowering drug costs for seniors, and voted to allow insurance companies charge higher premiums for people with pre-existing conditions.

Economy: Lisa Brown has advocated for tax decreases such as lowering property taxes for seniors and the Working Family Tax Credit. Lisa Brown has led fights for equal pay for equal work for women. Rep. McMorris Rodgers voted for a tax bill that gives 80 percent of the benefits to corporations and the top 1 percent of earners and has voted repeatedly against equal pay for women.

Education: Lisa Brown has helped create new scholarships for college students and, when she was serving as Chancellor of WSU Spokane, tuition was reduced twice. She also worked to allow members of military families stationed in Washington to receive in-state tuition. Rep. McMorris Rodgers voted for the largest cut to student financial aid in history.
