Ellen (Ralphie) Kay Boyd

Ellen (Ralphie) Kay Boyd passed away in the early evening hours of October 2, 2018, with family by her side.

Ellen was born on April 17, 1945 in Manistique, Michigan, where she attended elementary and high school. She was the second of six children born to William and Paula Roberts. It was here, in her hometown, where Ellen was introduced to a young and wild navy sailor named Jim. They fell in love and were married on October 5, 1967. Shortly thereafter in 1968, Ellen and Jim moved to Colfax, Wash., where they settled down. They were happily married just shy of 51 years. They raised four children together, Jamey (Mike) Molitor, Mike (Stacey) Graphos, Jody (Krista) Boyd, and Bridget (Greg) Harazin, and were blessed with 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Ellen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ellen thoroughly enjoyed working as a bartender at Pete's in downtown Colfax. It was here that she helped patrons maintain their "rosy glow" all night long. She always knew how to have a great time, make you laugh and put a smile on your face. She also enjoyed serving others while working at the hospital in Colfax for 19 years. In her free time, Ellen enjoyed attending Jim's community softball league games and going on numerous trips while Jim worked for Coca Cola. She was truly a social butterfly and loved spending time with family and friends. Ellen never missed a birthday, sporting event, or important function that involved her adored grandchildren.

Ellen greatly enjoyed the holidays. She couldn't wait for the holiday season so that she could open up her home for family get togethers. Some of her specialties included festive decorations, grape jelly meatballs, sugar cookies and her beloved White Russians.

Ellen's door was always open and she enjoyed hosting many gatherings with family and friends. Ellen, your bright smile, tender heart and laughter will be missed by all. She had many professions, but her grandkids say that her greatest profession of all was being the best Grammy ever! At her request, there will be no funeral, instead a memorial for Ellen will be held at a later time.

To a lifetime of rosy glows, we love you!

Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax is caring for the family. On-line condolences may be left at http://www.bruningfuneralhome.com.
