Tax foreclosure ruling on 6 parcels
October 4, 2018
Six parcels of land with a total value of $37,014 have been listed for tax foreclosure action this year by the county treasurer's office. The parcels were listed in a civil petition filed Wednesday to maintain foreclosure action on the properties. A court order was issued after the filing.
The civil petition allows foreclosure proceedings to continue under provisions of the law which would provide time allowances to taxpayers serving in the military. The court ruling states the treasurer has no way of knowing whether or not the military provision applies to properties listed for foreclosure.
Sale date for the tax foreclosure properties is on the second Friday of December, which will be Dec. 14 this year, according to Treasurer Mark Clinton.
Affidavits for foreclosure will follow the court ruling Monday.
The county files for foreclosures on properties for which taxes have not been paid for three years.
Properties listed in Monday's filing have sums due ranging from $11,078 down to $1,607.
Owners have the option of clearing their properties off the auction list by paying the overdue taxes plus interest and fees due prior to the date of the sale.
