Palouse splits cost on firefighter tanks

The Palouse city council approved a $34,000 expenditure Aug. 14 to pay for half of six new air tanks for Whitman County Rural Fire District Four with the district paying for the other half. Each of the units costs $11,000. They will be compatible with equipment used by other departments in the area.

No more than six were deemed necessary as the amount used in any one fire is usually small, and other departments are called to supply tanks for major fires....
