Appels, Stueckles gather for reunions

Guests at the Dick Appel home for the Fourth of July were Neil and Liz Appel, John Paul, Grace and Michael; Lisa and Travis Frei and Miriam, Rachel, Emma and Colette. The day was spent swimming, playing games and barbecuing hamburgers. The annual Appel family picnic was July 7 at the home of Dick and Helen Appel. Approximately 80 guests enjoyed the ham and turkey furnished by the hosts and the sides and desserts provided by the guests.

The annual Stueckle cousins reunion was last Tuesday at the home of Goldie Foss in Colfax. Attendees included David Stueckle, Dusty; Norm and Gloria Erickson and Marcus Stueckle, Colfax; Martha Hibbard, her grandson and daughter Mary Ellen Hibbard, Gertie Schiedeman, Spokane; Reuben and Judy Stueckle, Puyallup; Gracia Stueckle, Seattle; Elaine Hogan, Richland, and Gary Stueckle, Edmonds.

Reuben and Judy Stueckle, who had been spending several days with his brother David Stueckle, returned to their home on Thursday.

Linda Hennigar, Goldie Foss, Gloria Erickson, Gracia Stueckle, Elaine Hogan and Gary Stueckle went to Sandpoint, Idaho, July 11 to visit their aunt and uncle, Marv and Dagmar Kirking. They brought lunch with them and enjoyed an afternoon of visiting. Also joining in the gathering was Linda Aavedal, a former neighbor of the Kirkings and a long-time friend of Linda Hennigar.

Saturday, Karen Broeckel attended the Schaal family reunion (her maternal side of the family) at the home of Danny and Nadine Nilles near Medical Lake. Other members of the late Amelia Schaal Broeckel family who also were there included Al Broeckel, Tacoma; Patty Wieber, Brett Wieber, Bobby and Jamie Halbig and Evie and Ezra, Andrew and Emily Nolan and Lauren, Grady, Holden and Murphy, all of Spokane.
