Dayton art exhibit features buildings
Dayton Historic Depot will present the late Darlene Broughton’s collection of paintings of historic Dayton buildings. Broughton as a dedicated member of the Historical Society collected original artwork of many historic buildings in Dayton. The art was created by both local artists and artists beyond Southeast Washington. The result is a collection of paintings and drawings of some of Dayton’s historic architecture.
This is the final opportunity to see the collection. It will be auctioned as part of Darlene’s estate the latter part of this month. The Depot is open Wednesday through Saturday, 11 to 4.
Heritage photos at Colton library
A Rural Heritage photo collection will be presented at the Colton Library Thursday, March 29, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. People are welcome to browse through a selection of old-time photos from the Palouse, as well as a continuous slideshow of pictures.
Stress class at Tekoa
Introduction to mastering stress with Dan Rosey will come to the Tekoa Library Tuesdays, beginning March 13 at 6 p.m. This free weekly practice will cover causes of stress, managing emotions, let go breathing, communication skills and mindfulness activities.
Rosey has been a stress and emotion management coach for more than 30 years.
Garfield
Senior Meal
The next Garfield Senior Meal will be Thursday, March 15, at noon at the Garfield Legion/Grange Hall. It will be baked ham, mashed potatoes with country gravy, green beans, salad mix with dressing, peach jello salad, dinner biscuits with butter and coffee or punch. Dessert will be cookies and ice cream.
Kups for Kids set for Dahmen
Artisans at the Dahmen Barn will open a March exhibit, “Kontainers & Kups for Kids” March 11. Ceramic instructors and adult ceramic students have created containers and cups to donate to the kid’s ceramic program. Funds from sales of specially marked items in the exhibit will be used to provide lower cost classes to kids.
On Sunday, March 11, kids can come in for a free paper making class taught by University of Idaho student Sabrina Sirani. Adults can preview the exhibit while kids learn the art of making paper. Refreshments will be served. The event is free to the public.
The exhibit will end March 25 with a closing reception from 1-4 p.m. where customers can come in and have one last chance to make sure they get the container or cup they want.
Artists participating are Ross Galyean, Kassie Smith, Rosalie Wold, Katherine Clancy and Dave Faletti, all of Moscow; Tracy Randall of Pullman; Eric Daubny of Troy, Idaho; Judy Fairley of Clarkston, and Alice Wilcox of Colton. Ceramic Instructors are Kassie Smith and Rosalie Wold.

Chapter AF met Feb. 26 at the Courtyard with Tina Scholz as hostess and Tami Scholz as co-hostess. Fourteen members responded to roll call.
March 12 is the official collection day for the ways and means project and members are asked to have socks filled with change to benefit the scholarship fund.
A slate of officers was read for the 2018-2019 term. They will be voted on and installed at the next meeting. Scholz read her president's letter for her term in office.
A going-away party for Joan Hubbard will be March 25 at the Methodist Church. She plans to move to the coast to be near family members.
The next meeting will be March 12 at Peace Lutheran Church with Joann Wood as hostess and co-hostess.
