Two hurt in rollover crash on Ingram Road

At approximately 2 a.m. Friday, Whitman County deputies and emergency responders were notified of a single vehicle rollover accident on Ingram Road southeast of St. John. Upon arrival, deputies located a 2006 Jeep Cherokee on its top with the driver trapped in the vehicle. The driver, Marshall Bafus, 21, St. John, received head, neck and possible back injuries as well as major injuries to his left arm.

A passenger also sustained several non life-threatening injuries in the crash. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Both driver and passenger were transported to Whitman Hospital for treatment.

Sheriff Brett J. Myers said it is believed alcohol was a factor in this accident, and as a result Bafus is facing charges of driving under the influence. Deputies may also recommend a charge of vehicular assault, depending on the extent of injuries to the passenger in the Jeep.
