Library Calendar June 1

Thursday, June 1

Malden – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Annual Book Sale – Come get some great deals and help “Build a Better World.”

Colfax – 3 to 6 p.m. – The community is invited to sign-up for Summer Reading at the Colfax Library for June’s First Thursday Event.

Tekoa – 3:15 p.m. – Teen Watercolors – Teens are invited for a special water color art class with our Teen Librarian.

Albion – 5 p.m. – Fireside Chats – Come sit around our library “fire” and have a cup of something delicious. Chat with friends or bring something to work on; same time every Thursday.

Friday, June 2

Malden – 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Caregiver Support Group – All paid and unpaid caregivers are welcome to attend. We offer coffee, a light lunch and an employee from Rural Resources to work with you and provide support.

Saturday, June 3

Rosalia – 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Battle Days – Enjoy the festivities and stop by the Rosalia library for a Microsoft Imagine Academy open house, messy art project for kids and, of course, to sign up for Summer Reading.

Colfax TEK Center – 2 to 4 p.m. – Drop-in Tech Saturday – EVERY SATURDAY drop into the TEK Center to get hands-on help with basic computer skills, email, social media, OverDrive and more. Bring your device and questions to our WSU volunteer, Tara.

St. John Rialto – 6:30 p.m. – WCL Trivia Night – Join us for TRIVIA NIGHT at the Rialto. Bring your team, test your knowledge, and win great prizes. Remember your library card for a bonus point.

Monday, June 5

Oakesdale – 11 a.m. – Attentive Parenting Classes – Academic and persistence coaching, emotional literacy, self-regulation and problem solving skills. Please call Elana at 285-4310, as pre registration is required. $20 gift certificates, lunch, and other incentives are available.

LaCrosse – 1 to 3 p.m. – Energy Assistance – Anita Peterson from Community Action Center will be assisting low income households in need of help with home energy costs. Call 1-800-482-3991 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Tuesday, June 6

Colfax – 11 a.m. – Friends of the Library Meeting – Everyone is welcome to attend. Meetings are held at 11 a.m. the first Tuesday of every month.

Colfax TEK Center – 11 to 11:30 a.m. Tech Tuesday: Robotic Competition, the Genius is in the Game – View the inspiring TED Talk on how robotics competitions are bringing STEM to life and changing the lives of youth around the world. Everyone is also welcome to see the new hands-on STEM kits for children and teens to explore electronic circuits, robotics and more.

Colfax – 5:30 to 7 p.m. – Yoga for a Cause – This month, donations benefit the Colfax High School FCCLA (Family, Career, & Community Leaders of America) club on its journey to the national conference in Nashville. The yoga class features Vinyasa flow from 5:30–6:30 p.m., a quick break where participants are welcome to come and go, then a restorative phase.

Wednesday, June 7

Colfax JES Gym – 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. – Afterschool Science – Join the Colfax Library and Palouse Discovery Center for fun and learning at Jennings Elementary School Gym. K-6 students and families are welcome. Snacks included.

Thursday, June 8

Colfax – 10 to 11:30 a.m. – Storytime – Bring your little ones to learn, play, sign, rhyme, and craft at the Colfax Library. Reminder: this will be the last storytime of the summer and the program will resume in fall.
