Lentil Festival poster unveiling scheduled June 1

The official kickoff event to the 2017 National Lentil Festival in Pullman has been booked for June 1 at Chipman & Taylor Chevrolet.

The kickoff event is the annual poster unveiling.

“It is the first event we have that starts the countdown two-and-a-half months away from the festival,” said Britnee Packwood, Lentil Festival director.

There were about 20 submissions for the poster contest, Packwood said.

“We had submissions from local residents who presented different concepts and themes,” she said.

Though the poster theme and design will not be unveiled until June 1, Packwood did name the winner.

Carrie Lynn Kyser, a former Pullman resident now living in Lewiston, designed the winning poster.

The poster unveiling event will include appetizer and beverage pairings from six restaurants.

These include Birch & Barley paired with Whiskey Barrel Cider, Banyans on the Ridge paired with Merry Cellars and Fork in the Road paired with Paradise Creek Brewery.

Tickets for the event can be purchased by calling the Pullman Chamber of Commerce.

Tickets cost $35 in advance or $45 at the door.

Packwood said the event traditionally sells out.

Attendees must be 21 years or older.
