Chamber plans Wine & Beer Tasting, auction

Tickets are now on sale for the Colfax Chamber of Commerce 17th annual Wine & Micro Beer Tasting & Auction. The event is planned for Friday, May 12, at 6 p.m. at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds.

Individual tickets cost $25, and tables can be sponsored for $150. Tables include eight tickets.

Tickets can be purchased online or at Rosauers or Hen House Chicks.

Valoree Gregory, Colfax unified executive director, said the event is being moved to the fairground for several reasons.

“We moved it to the fairgrounds because first of all they are helping us with it,” she said. “They kind of took some things over and are helping a lot. The parking is also really good at the fairgrounds, and we can sell more tickets. Last year, we had to turn some people away.”

Silent auction items are also being accepted. These items can be taken to Dusty Attic at 113 N. Main Street by May 5.

Gregory said Butch Booker will serve as auctioneer for the night for both the silent and live auctions. Silent auction items are usually donated by businesses and include items from the stores or sometimes gift cards. Gregory noted some individuals will donate silent auction items as well, such as homemade items.

Shawn McAdams, manager at Rosauers, will bring the live auction items. Gregory said he usually brings an assortment of items from Rosauers, such as patio furniture or grills.
