Kamiak Butte trail thawing out

According to an update from the Whitman County Parks and Recreation Department, Kamiak Butte trails are beginning to show signs of spring.

The Pine Ridge Trail at Kamiak Butte was noted to be clear of snow and ice Tuesday. The West End Primitive Trail is still catching up, but is mostly clear of snow and ice. A section of approximately 30 feet near the top of the north side of that trail is still covered with compact snow.

Traction devices were recommended for anyone planning to hike in the Kamiak Butte area while there was snow and ice.

The parks department noted the Wawawai trail was clear.
