Film to be shot on the Palouse

A Los Angeles film production is underway on the Palouse. The team which produced “The Mooring” – a feature released by Lionsgate to DVD in 2012 – will be at locations in Garfield, Moscow and elsewhere over the next two months.

Billed as a family sports drama, the new project is titled “The Last Champion,” to be directed by Glenn Withrow, a longtime actor (“The Outsiders,” “Rumblefish”) who also directed “The Mooring,” filmed at locations on Lake Coeur d'Alene and surrounding areas.

The “Last Champion” production has rented the closed Garfield restaurant space for one location.

“We're not planning to make a profit,” said Ray McCown, Garfield mayor. “Just so it doesn't cost us anything.”
