Rosalia blood drive tops 5-year mark

Rosalia

The students and community of Rosalia High School brought in the most units of blood since 2011 with a record breaking 13 units. Nineteen community members came out April 20 to support the annual blood drive which lead to its great success.

Each unit of blood can save up to three lives and makes a huge impact on the local community. The Inland Northwest Blood Center is the sole provider of blood to area hospitals and relies on volunteer donors to help keep fully-stocked shelves.

Wednesday, April 27, Tekoa and Rosalia band students performed in front of a packed house in Tekoa. Band instructor Justin Brumley opened with remarks about how hard the students have worked this year. The first band to play was the Tekoa fifth graders followed by the Rosalia fifth graders.

Each school played four songs. The Tekoa sixth graders were followed by Rosalia sixth graders and a combined seventh-eighth grade Tekoa/Rosalia band. The Tekoa/Rosalia High School band headlined the evening with a performance highlighted by “Jackson Lake Overture” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
