Shirley Ann Ulrey

The funeral for Shirley Ann Ulrey, 73, resident of Colfax since 1970, was Tuesday at the Bruning Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Ingalls officiating. Burial followed at the Colfax Cemetery. Mrs. Ulrey died Friday, May 7, 2016, at her home in Colfax.

Born Feb. 13, 1943, in McLean County, N.D., to Frederick and Dorothy Wagner Helm, she was raised in North Dakota and married Larry Ulrey March 8, 1962. They resided in Illinois before moving to Colfax in 1970. She was employed at Hamilton Drug in Colfax and retired when the store closed.

She enjoyed ceramics, painting pottery, doing word puzzles and raising flowers.

Her husband preceded her in death in 2009.

Survivors include three sons, Daren, Les and Don; brothers and sisters, Jim Helm, Irene Fagan, Judy Schmidt, Gene Helm, Dena Ulat and Karen Beyers; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
