The Whitman County Planning Office issued a Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS) under the State Environmental Policy Act Rules (Chapter 197-11 WAC) for the following project: WEIS Towers LLC has requested an administrative use permit for a proposed 200-foot communications tower and related ground equipment.

The tower will allow co-location of other carriers.

The site is located in the NE % of Section 4, Township 15 N., Range 42 E., W.M., Whitman County, Washington, approximately 6 miles east of the Town of Dusty.

After review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on file with us, the Planning Office has determined that this proposal will not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment.

The public is also notified of the intent to issue an administrative use permit for this proposal as per Chapter 19.58.050(A). The Whitman County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing will be held by the Whitman County Board of Commissioners in their Chambers, Whitman County Courthouse, Colfax, Washington on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.

The purpose of the hearing is to review community development and housing needs, inform citizens of the availability of funds and eligible uses of the state Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), and receive comments on proposed activities, particularly from lower income persons residing in the Whitman County area.

$102,125 is proposed to be available annually to Whitman County and the Community Action Center to fund public services that principally benefit low-and moderate income persons in Whitman County.
