A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Dale Brannan, 88, former Pullman resident who moved to the Lewiston-Clarkston valley in 1970, will be Saturday, Jan. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Quality Inn of Clarkston. Mr. Brannan died Jan. 1, 2015, at the Clarkston Care Center.

Born April 6, 1926, in Colfax to Harold R. and Nita Willoughby Brannan, he was raised on the family farm north of Pullman and attended the Enterprise School until 1935 when he transferred to the Albion School where he remained until finishing his education at Pullman High School.

During World War II he worked in the shipyards in Portland and then served in the U.S. Army with the 5th Cavalry 305th Field Artillery in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

He later served in Japan and was honorably discharged in 1946.

Returning to Pullman he worked with his father at the family’s dairy and was named the Young Dairyman of the Year in 1956.

In 1948 Dale married Shirley Stilson and they later were divorced.

He also worked as a salesman for Thompson Motors in Pullman and later operated his own used car business.

After moving to the Lewiston-Clarkston valley in 1970 he began a construction business and built many homes in the area through the years. He married Lois (Jimmie) Reed Jan. 26, 1980, in Lewiston. They made their home in Asotin for many years before moving to Clarkston in 1995. They enjoyed boating and trips in the San Juan Islands and took numerous vacations to Hawaii. In later years Dale enjoyed golfing excursions with friends. He served as a City Councilman for Asotin, was Commodore of the Hell’s Canyon Boat Club and served as president of the Quail Ridge Men’s Association. He was also a member of the Jaycee’s and VFW in the Lewiston-Clarkston valley.

Surviving are his wife, a son Dan (Lorraine) Brannan of Pullman; daughters JoAnne (Chuck) Bryan of Pullman, Jeanne (Don) Tulloch of Yakima, Debbi (Ray) Jahaaski of Monument, Colo .; Michele (Terry) Finseth of Thousand Oaks, Calif .; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Eugene Bridge, 88, former long-time resident of Garfield, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the American Legion Hall in Garfield. Mr. Bridge died Dec. 22, 2014, in Lewiston. He has been cremated.

Born Sept. 6, 1926, to Rufus and Hernietta Bridge in Nebraska, he was raised there and joined the U.S. Navy. He served in the Pacific during World War II on the crew of an escort gunship for mine sweepers.

After the war he visited a sister in this area and decided to make a career as a barber here. He first barbered in St. John and later moved to Garfield. He held many civic jobs for the Town of Garfield, including city clerk and mayor, with the barbershop doubling as a city office. He was also a school bus driver for many years.

He and Mabel Plummer were married at Elberton. She survives at LaDow Court in Garfield.

Also surviving are two children, Richard (Dianna) Bridge, Oakesdale; and Mary Angela (Brian) Meyer, Clarkston; one sister, Ruth Dotson, Bellingham; five grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by an infant son, Tommy, and a great-grandson, Andrew Bridge.

A funeral service for Jeanne Scott Hamill, 98, long time farm woman in Washtucna/LaCrosse area, will be Friday Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. at Washtucna Community Church with burial following in the LaCrosse cemetery. She died Jan. 1, 2015, in Ritzville. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 8, from noon to 5 p.m. at Danekas Funeral Home-Ritzville.

Mrs. Hamill was a member of the Washtucna Community Church, Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at WSC and served on the Washtucna school board.

She started quilting at the age of 80, which was about the same time she quit riding horses.

She is survived by two children, Bob (Bonnie) Hamill of Spokane and Timmie (Fred) Blauert of Washtucna; a sister, Donna Andrus, LaCrosse; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Hamill, and infant son, James.

Memorials are suggested to Washtucna Community Church or charity of the donor's choice.

A memorial service for Donna Rae Daily Harvill, 72, will be Saturday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Potlatch Presbyterian Church. She died of cancer at her home Jan. 4, 2015.

Born April 12, 1942, in Moscow, Idaho, to Robert and Betty Daily, she was raised on the family farm between Palouse and Potlatch, Idaho. She graduated from Palouse High School in 1960 and attended Eastern Washington University where she met her husband, Edwin G. Harvill. They were married at the Palouse Federated Church June 16, 1963. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army and served a military career that spanned two continents.

They returned to the family farm in 2008 to be near her father. She continued her love of gardening and raised dahlias and roses. She enjoyed providing vegetables for friends and neighbors throughout the growing season.

Surviving are her husband of more than 50 years, Edwin Harvill; their three children, Kevin Harvill of Potlatch, Kimberley (Brad) Bettencourt of Boise, Kurt (Angela) Harvill, Bellingham; one brother, Paul Daily of Spokane; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass for Addie V. Millhorn, 102, will be Friday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rockford. Father Robert Erickson, S.J. will officiate. Urn burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Rockford. Mrs. Millhorn died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Fairfield Care.

Born Dec. 30, 1912, at Burke, Wash., to John and Maria Bolster Fleckenstein, she moved with her family to Rockford in 1920, attended Mica Peak School through the 10th grade and graduated from St. Scholastica’s Academy at Colton in 1931.

She married Murl Harmon in December of 1931. Mr. Harmon died in 1940, and she married Herbert Millhorn in October of 1945, and the couple made their home in the Rockford area where they farmed. Mr. Millhorn died in 1969. She continued to make her home in the Rockford area then lived near her daughter at Oakesdale from 1992 until moving to Fairfield Care in 2012.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rockford, the church Altar Society, the Mica Peak Women’s Club, the Lake Creek Club and the Tekoa Study Club. Addie enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and quilting.

She is survived by a daughter, Maureen (Dan) St. John of Oakesdale, sons Herb Millhorn of Worley and Murl Harmon of Jenkintown, Pa; 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Lenore Harmon and Sharon Harmon Adams, and a grandson, Shane St. John.

Memorial gifts may be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rockford, or to Fairview Cemetery in Rockford.

Howard M. Nygreen, 93, retired Colfax area farmer, died Dec. 30, 2014, at Pullman Regional Hospital. A private family celebration of his life will take place later in 2015. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman is in charge of arrangements.

Born March 7, 1921, in Bellingham, to Theodore and Emily Gwinn Nygreen, he grew up in Bellingham and graduated from high school there.

Following high school, he moved to Seattle and went to work in the sheet metal industry for Teeter & Harlis on the Seattle waterfront. He married Helene Russell in 1940. They had three children and later were divorced. On Sept. 19, 1953, he married Sybl Ann Davidson and they moved to Colton to take over the family farming operation with Sybl’s parents outside of Colton. They had two children. Howard farmed for some 40 years until retiring at the age of 70. He continued to live at the family home until recently when he moved to Bishop Place Retirement Community in Pullman.

He loved to fish, hunt, garden, play golf and collect stamps and coins. He was a life long Mason who served in many different capacities including being a Third Degree Mason and a member of the Shrine.

Surviving are his two sons Dennis Nygreen and Keith (Kim) Nygreen, all of Colton; three daughters, Nancy Nygreen of Spokane; Patricia (Robert Dean) Gorthy of New York; Candace Lawson of Colton; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Sybl in 2008.
