A double memorial service for Potlatch residents Lamont and Brenda Bartlett, 72 and 51 respectively, will be Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, 2 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, Princeton, Idaho, with the Rev. Larry Veith and the Rev. Kathy Kramer officiating. A potluck luncheon will be served following the service.

The Bartletts died at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident near Princeton Friday, Oct. 24, 2014.

Lamont was born on Aug. 29, 1942, at Eugene, Ore., to Ernest and Berdena (Brooks) Bartlett. He attended school at Potlatch, Idaho. He married Jolene Rasmussen Aug. 20, 1965, at Princeton. The couple later divorced and he and Brenda Cochrane were married Dec. 31, 1988, at Potlatch and the couple made their home at Potlatch. He was employed by Hansen Logging, Bennett Lumber, Mark Darby logging and, for the past 10 years, worked as an independent logger called L & B Logging.

Lamont was a member of the Idaho Loggers Association and the NRA.

Brenda M. Bartlett, 51, was born July 19, 1963, at The Dalles, Ore., to Duane H. and Mathilda (Jacobson) Cochrane. She attended schools at Potlatch and graduated from Potlatch High School in 1981.

Brenda was employed for 29 years in the payroll department at Washington State University. She was recently promoted to payroll manager. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Potlatch. Brenda is survived by her mother, Mathilda Cochrane and one brother, Kevin (Sandy) Cochrane both of Potlatch.

Lamont is survived by one son, Chad Bartlett, Potlatch; two daughters, Tami Koster (Scott), Tualatin, Ore., and Pamela Colvin (Curtis), Everett; one brother, Leslie Bartlett, Priest River, Idaho; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, Box 63, Potlatch, ID or to the Grace Lutheran Church, Box 306, Potlatch, ID 83855.

The funeral for Jerry Newman, 74, former Palouse resident, will be Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Palouse Federated Church with the Rev. Corey Laughary officiating. A reception will follow. Mr. Newman died Oct. 15, 2014, at his home in Casa Grande, Ariz.

Born in Roseburg, Ore., April 27, 1940, to Martin and Irma Newman, he moved with his family to Sacramento. A graduate of Elk Grove High School and the University of California at Davis, he received a masters degree from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. Jerry dedicated his professional life to educating youth in the 4H program as an Extension Agent for Solano County, Calif., and finished his career as a 4H specialist and professor at Washington State University.

He served on many boards and community organizations, most notably on the national board for Guide Dogs for the Blind and as President of the Palouse School Board. He and his wife were residents of Palouse for more than 30 years before becoming full-time RVers and subsequently purchasing a home in Casa Grande.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, of 48 years; three sons, Erik Newman (Connie), Palouse; Ian Newman (T.J.), Moses Lake, and Jason Newman (Clarissa), Boise, and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Washington State 4H Foundation.

Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, 11 a.m., at the Palouse Federated Church with Rev. Corey Laughary officiating with a reception following.

Kramer Funeral Home, Palouse, is handling the arrangements.

Vernon D. Henning, 80, Onecho area farmer, died Tuesday Oct. 28, 2014, at Colonial Court Assisted Living in Spokane. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax.

A memorial service for Ronald K. Dixon, 77, will be Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at 2 p.m., at Kramer Funeral Home, Palouse, with the Rev. Kathy Kramer officiating. Potlatch VFW and an Army Honor Guard participating. Mr. Dixon died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at his Potlatch home. A potluck dinner will follow the service at the Rebekah Lodge in Potlatch.

Born July 23, 1937, at Princeton, Idaho, to Dewey Miles and Lillian (Trotter) Dixon, he attended schools at Potlatch, Idaho. Mr. Dixon joined the United States Marine Corps Nov. 28, 1955, served in Japan and was discharged as a corporal Nov. 28, 1958. He enlisted in the United States Army Oct. 17, 1961, and served in the Military Police in Germany and was discharged on Nov. 23, 1964.

Ron married Lorraine Pearson and the couple later divorced.

He met Janet Dickinson and the couple made their home at Potlatch. He was employed by Latah Grain Growers in 1969 as a maintenance supervisor and retired in 2000.

Survivors include his companion of 25 years, Janet Dickinson; three sons, Mark Dixon (Kimberly), Deary, Idaho; Randy L. Dixon (Kathy) Bovill, Idaho; Cary Dixon (Tracy), Potlatch; one daughter, Lisa Sanners, Indiana; four step-daughters and one step-son, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and 18 step-great grandchildren.
