Many events ready for Rosalia festival

Rosalia Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a fall festival celebration Saturday, Oct. 18.

Brittany Lasz heads planning for the festival. Residents can check with her at the Coffee Shop for information and suggestions.

Rosalia royalty will sell cider and Krispy Kreme Donuts at the Texaco Station. Mike Day is pre-selling donuts which can be picked up Saturday at the station.

Foot Prints Day Care will sponsor a carnival at the Methodist Church social room. Children can participate in a costume parade.

Instruction on fire safety for kids will be from 10 a.m. to noon.

Rosalia Library will host two Halloween themed storytimes and craft activities starting at 11 a.m. All materials will be provided by Friends of the Rosalia Library.

Jerry's Farm Supply will again sponsor the "Travel Card" event. Participants can travel to all the local businesses to collect a punch on a card. Completed cards can be turned in at the Rosalia Coffee Shop for free hot chocolate.

Fine crafters and vendors will be at the Pinewood Cottage.

A book signing at Pat's Books will feature Jo Strum's book, "Holy One Tell Me: Lessons from a Journey Through Life."

The Rosalia Chamber Calendar for 2014-2015 can be picked up at the Rosalia Coffee Shop or City Hall. Calendars are available for $8 for those who have not ordered them.

Plans are being made for the Veterans' Day observance which will be Nov. 11 in the Veterans' Memorial Park located behind the Texaco Station. Rosalia School Supt. Larry Keller, who retired as a colonel after a 27-year career as a pilot and commander with the U.S. Air Force, will give a talk, and members of the Rosalia Scouts will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and present a demonstration on flag burning.

Pat Voge will be emcee for the event, and Mayor Nan Konishi will give the welcome. Members of the Spokane VFW drill team will fire three volleys. Julie Pittmann, first vice regent of the state DAR, will place a memorial wreath. Taps will be performed by Lucas Engel, Rosalia High School student.
