Heaton reunion includes Salmon River rafting

Dusty

Christopher, Erica, Miss Blayke and Justus Heaton recently visited his parents, Blake and Carmen Heaton, for a week. Also arriving for the summer were Heathermarie, Valente, Jeronimo and Xico Reynoso Heaton from Mexico City. Before coming from Mexico, Heather and the boys spent a week with Jaime, their husband and father, in Key Largo where he is shooting a television series. While in Key Largo, the boys experienced swimming with dolphins.

The two families plus Justin and Katy Heaton, Wade Heaton and Blake and Carmen went to Riggins, Idaho, where all but Blake and Katy rafted for two days on the Salmon River. This was the first time rafting for the grandchildren and they are ready to go again soon. Christopher and his family have returned to their home in Arizona. Heather and the boys are here for the summer and are helping Uncle Justin with harvest.

Country Bible Church will hold its annual church picnic July 27 on the lawn at the Loren Scaggs home in Dusty. Please notify Jan Smith by July 21 if you plan to attend.

Art and Colene Sager hosted Bob and Judy Records, Newbery, Ore., and Shannon and Jenny Filonchuk and their two children from Ansbach, Germany, from Wednesday to Monday. Jenny is Colene’s niece. They wanted to visit Uncle Art’s “farm” so that Joseph, age 3, could ride on a tractor.

Saturday, the men flew to Waterville to a town celebration. Sunday morning, Art took Joseph for his first small airplane ride which landed at Norm Erickson’s airstrip just in time to attend morning worship services at Country Bible Church. Joseph’s father and Uncle Bob went along for the ride. Joseph loved the ride but was most taken with the head set he wore.

Gena Jones and family returned to their home in Italy July 7. A heavy rain storm in Minneapolis caused the airport to be closed, resulting in a six hour longer flight than normal. Gena’s daughter Meggie Perron will return in September to attend Walla Walla Community College. Gena’s son, Damien Perron, will begin his fifth year of high school in his home town.

Bryan Jones attended his 40th high school reunion in Colfax July 12. An overnight guest was his friend and classmate Rod Russell of Spokane.

Guests at the Dick and Helen Appel home this past weekend were Kate Wollstein and Elliot Moon, Federal Way; Barb and Bruce Wollstein, Lacey; Beth and David Lohermeyer, Gig Harbor; Pat and Joanne Corrigan, Bothell; Deb and Bob Stavig, Brush Prairie; and Jessica Wanke, Ridgefield. They were here to attend the wedding reception for Liz and Neil Appel Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Colfax.

Sunday, a brunch was put on for Helen’s 75th birthday by Barb Wollstein and other family members. Forty-four children and grandchildren attended the brunch and spent the afternoon visiting and swimming in the pool.

Larry and Karen Broeckel, Tehatchapi, Calif., were house guests of Loren Scaggs, arriving Friday and leaving Tuesday. Homer Hopkins and Lorraine Scaggs joined Loren and Beth Christi for lunch on Sunday. Dale and Vicki Broeckel visited Sunday evening.

Anna and Chad Assareh and Iris, Renton, were weekend visitors of her parents, Mark and Kathy Vogler. Anna and Chad went on to Walla Walla for part of the weekend while Iris got to stay with her grandparents and entertain them. The Assarehs returned to their home Tuesday.
