Pearl E. Farrell, 95, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene. In accordance with her request, a service will not be conducted. Her ashes will be buried at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa.

Born April 22, 1919, at Tonasket, to George L. and Sarah Baughman Brundage, she attended grade schools at Elma and Arlington and high school in Seattle.

She married Robert Reeves in Coeur d’Alene in 1937. They were later divorced and she married Neil Farrell March 5, 1962, at Tekoa. The couple made their home in Arizona from 1962 until 1969 when they moved back to Tekoa. In Parker, Ariz., the couple owned and operated a restaurant. Mr. Farrell died in November of 1975, and Pearl continued to live in the Tekoa area until moving to an assisted living home in Hayden, Idaho. A homemaker for most of her life, she also worked at many other jobs including bartender at the Waverly Tavern and cook for the Tekoa School District.

Pearl collected salt and pepper shakers for many years. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing cards. She was active with the Tekoa Senior Citizens and ran the bus schedule for seniors from Tekoa to Spokane.

Survivors include one son, Robert Reeves; seven grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Georgia Cummings of Tekoa and Alberta Krell of Fairfield.

A memorial service for Dee (Robert) Schwendiman, 69, former Pullman resident, will be Friday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at the Spokane Valley LDS Church, 40th and Bowdish, with a potluck lunch following at the church. A committal service will be at 2:15 at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery near Medical Lake.

Mr. Schwendiman died of pancreatic cancer July 4, 2014, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Spokane.

Born April 9, 1945, at Colfax to John and Naomi Schwendiman, he was raised in Pullman and attended Pullman schools, Rick's College in Idaho, and Washington State University.

He served in the U.S. Army, from 1968-1970, including a tour of duty in Vietnam.

He was a staff sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division.

After returning to Pullman he married Lynn Jackman in June 1970.

Together, they owned and operated several businesses until they retired in 1998 and moved to acreage south of Spokane.

His hobbies included photography, motorcycling, gardening, sailing, water-skiing and woodworking.

They spent winters in Green Valley, Ariz., where he developed an interest in rock collecting and lapidary work.

Surviving are his wife, Lynn; daughters, Deanna (Phil) Paragas of Barrington, Ill., and Shannon (Paul) Slaughter of Albion; son, Chad (Ann) Schwendiman of Pullman; sister, Karen (Dave) Thaler of Lowell, Mich .; brothers, Carl (Deni) of Plano, Texas, Gary of Tucson, Ariz., and Gene (Heather) of Vancouver; and five grandchildren.

The family suggests that memorial donations go to the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, P.O. Box 1511, Medical Lake, 99022-1511.

A graveside service for David H. Smith, 58, former Tekoa resident, was Wednesday, July 9, at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa. Mr. Smith died June 28, 2012, at his home in Libery Lake.

He made his home at Tekoa from 2003 through 2005 and then moved to the Spokane Valley where he owned and operated a janitorial service.

Born May 22, 1956, at Ford Ord, Calif., to Walker and Phyllis Woods Smith, he moved with his family to this area where he resided for most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. He enjoyed collecting antiques.

Survivng are two sons, Jeremy Smith of Spokane and David Smith of Ft. Campbell, Ky .; five daughters, Wendy, Crystal, Tracy and Holly Smith and Heidi and Stacey Bailey, all of Spokane, three sisters and 19 grandchildren.

A memorial service for Bob Thompson, 83, will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse, Saturday, July 12, at 10 a.m with Potlatch VFW and a United States Navy color guard participating. A reception will follow the service at the Palouse Federated Church.

Mr. Thompson died April 4, 2014.

Born Aug. 10, 1930, in Palouse to Vern and Bess Thompon, he graduated from Palouse High School in 1949. He worked at the mill in Potlatch until he enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean War. During his years in the service, he competed in rodeo events in Millington, Tenn. He also qualified for a private pilot's license in Kodiak, Alaska. He retired from the Navy in 1973. After his retirement he became a snowbird and spent winters in Surprise, Ariz., and summers in Rathdrum, Idaho. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and guns.

Surviving are his wife, Isla, and daughter, Linda, both Pullman; daughter, Susan, Palouse; sister, Sharon, Otis Orchards; and two grandchildren.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of North Coeur d'Alene or to the American Cancer Society.
