Rose C. Anderson

A memorial service for Rose C. Anderson, 91, will be Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at the Garfield Christian Church with Pastor Dean Walker officiating. Burial will precede the service at 1 p.m. at the Garfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson died early Friday morning, March 21, 2014, at the Guardian Angel Homes in Liberty Lake where she has made her home since last June.

Born April 12, 1922, at Clarkston, to John and Emma Nelson, she attended schools in Garfield. She married Harold E. Anderson Oct. 14, 1939, at Garfield and they made their home near Oakesdale where they farmed. After retirement, Rose and Harold moved to Garfield in 1997. Mr. Anderson died in 1999.

She was a member of the Garfield Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening and cared for the flower beds at the Christian Church at Garfield.

Survivors include two sons, H. Donald (Carolyn) Anderson, Oakesdale, and A. Robert (Kathryn) Anderson Oakesdale; one brother, Richard Nelson, Garfield; one sister, Ruby Perkins, Garfield; six grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Garfield Christian Church or to the Union Gospel Mission, 1224 E. Trent Ave., Spokane, 99220.

Paula F. Chain

A family memorial gathering for Paula F. Chain, 58, former Oakesdale resident, will be at the Helen Spencer Trow Room at the Tekoa Retirement Apartments Saturday, March 29, at 1 p.m. She died of cancer Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at her home in Tekoa where she has resided since last fall.

Born Jan. 21, 1956, at Yakima, to Paul and Marjorie (Shaffer) Maxwell, she attended schools in the Yakima area and graduated from high school there. She later attended college where she took courses to become a nursing assistant.

Paula married Roy D. Chain Oct. 19, 1991, at Everett. The couple moved to Spokane in the late 1990s and she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at several long term care facilities in Spokane. In 2006, the couple moved to Oakesdale. She worked at care centers in Tekoa and Colfax. She retired because of health reasons three years ago.

She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved to go shopping with her family.

Surviving are her husband, Roy Chain of Tekoa; her children, Kenny Himes of Oakesdale, Brian Himes and Marcus Himes, both of Tekoa, Michelle Himes of Oakesdale, and Denny Chain of Tekoa and June of Yakima; nine grandchildren, and two brothers in Yakima. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Himes.

Allen Redman

A memorial service for Allen Redman, 88, retired Palouse area farmer, will be Friday, March 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Palouse Federated Church with Rev. Corey Laughary officiating. A United States Navy honors guard and the Potlatch V.F.W. post will participate. Urn burial will be held at a later date.

Mr. Redman died early Saturday morning, March 22, 2014, at the Pullman Regional Hospital.

Born June 23, 1925, to William and Edna Sonnek Redman, he attended the Palouse Schools and graduated from the Palouse High School with the class of 1943.

He joined the U.S. Navy April 17, 1943, and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was discharged in 1946 as a seaman first class.

He married Betty Jo McGinnis Dec. 24, 1948, at Palouse, and they made their home north of Palouse where they took over the operation of his fathers’ farm. Allen retired from farming in 2010. Mrs. Redman died in 2002.

Allen was a member of the Palouse Christian Church, Moscow Elks Lodge, Palouse Grain Growers and Palouse American Legion. He was also a 68-year member of the Washington State Grange.

An avid reader, he also enjoyed trap shooting, tinkering in his shop, fast boats, piloting planes, dancing and Sunday drives.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Redman (Sue) Palouse, Brian (Sam) Redman, Palouse; two daughters, Donna Jo Cantu (Oscar), Winifred, Mont., and Susan Redman, Palouse; five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Marc Redman.

Memorials may be given to the Palouse E.M.S. or the Palouse Fire Dept. in care of American West Bank, Palouse, 99161
