Here we go again.

The two parties in the two houses of Congress recently came to an agreement to reopen government and to tackle the debt limit ceiling.

The agreement gives the country a respite for a few months.

It didn’t really solve anything. It just put the decision off for a while longer.

To use the now over-used expression, Congress kicked the can down the road once again.

The promise is that Congress will come together and generate answers and solutions with a greater shelf life than just a few months.

Over these past excruciating years, the American people have been polled and questioned endlessly. Polls say they blame this party. Polls say they blame that party. Or, polls say they blame the president.

One polling question, however, has been steady. That is the one that asks what should be done. That poll always echoes the public’s desire for compromise.

The American public wants Congress to come to terms with political differences and develop a plan and a budget that will get the government and the country on a known course.

The country cannot perpetually lurch from one manufactured financial crisis to another. Too many important issues need to be addressed.

It is time to get it done. Every member of Congress should receive an unequivocable message to do just that.

And, only a fed up public can do that.
