Six will graduate at Sprague High

Sprague High School graduation will be Saturday, June 1, at 7 p.m. in the school gym. The 2013 graduating seniors are Kelly Melville, Ethan Melville, Zach Swanger, Alanna Wheeler, Rachel Barres and Jash Fritts.

Megan Gaffney, daughter of Sandy and David Irish and Kevin and Debra Gaffney, graduated from Northern Arizona University Friday, May 11, at Flagstaff, Ariz. Joining Megan’s parents were grandmother Betty Stone, aunts Patty Ethredge and Carolyn Behrens. After graduation they all attended a celebratory dinner.

On Thursday Megan and Betty and her family visited the Grand Canyon. On Saturday Betty, Kevin, Debbie, Carolyn and Patty shopped in Sedona then on to Sun City West and home. Betty remained in Sun City for several more days to visit with her friend of more than 50 years, Fanny Lewis.

Tom and Sue Pedersen just returned from a five-day vacation in Las Vegas were they met with Tom’s two sisters from California and their son Chad who is stationed at Crech Air Force Base near Las Vegas.

Sprague-Lamont Little Red Hens red hat ladies club drove to Williams Lake May 15 for lunch at Klink’s Bistro. This included Bea Butler, Diane Coak, Jolane Danielson, Kay Dirks-Hill, Anita Frederick, Marcia Landers, Shirley Miller, Pat Peterson, Nita Vold, Nita Polda and Kathy Shields.

Carolyn Behrens and Patty Ethredge were among the volunteers to assist and help the veterans and their guardians as they left Spokane on their charted Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. They were then on hand to greet them when they arrived home of Friday evening, May 17.

Three members of the Lind/Ritzville/Sprague tennis team will go on to the state tennis finals on May 24 and May 25 at Yakima. They are Tracy Melville in singles and Kelly Melville and Alanna Wheeler in doubles.

Shari Bolden of Tukwila has spent the last week visiting her parents Don and Sherrill Nelson. On Saturday they all attended the Spokane Children’s Theater production of Beauty and the Beast. The Nelsons’ granddaughter, 11 year old Kylie Nelson, was a cast member.
