Two CHS students to FCCLA national

Two of Colfax High School FCCLA members will attend the national meeting at Nashville in July.

Kim Hinnenkamp, newly elected state vice-president of Region 9, will attend to receive leadership training. She will be part of a 16 member officer group in charge of organizing meetings for the Washington state delegation which numbers 170. She will also attend training for state officers given at the national level.

Lizzy May will compete at the national level in Digital Stories for Change. She and Ysabeaux Ng were announced as one of 33 teams from 19 different states to qualify for the next level of competition. Digital Stories for Change is sponsored by The Allstate Foundation who asked chapters to develop an online video about “Youth Traffic Safety.” This in a nationwide effort to advocate positive change through peer-to-peer education.

Finalists will be eligible to receive monetary awards from The Allstate Foundation and will compete for STAR Event rankings of gold, silver or bronze at the National Leadership Conference. This video can be viewed by the public on the CHS website under Cathy White’s teacher page in the FCCLA folder.

Money is being raised to support them as they travel to Nashville. Donations can be made out to Colfax FCCLA or to the girls personally.
