Garfield class tops library penny drive

The primary classes at Garfield Elementary topped the annual library penny drive by raising $186.86 in April. Mrs. Kern’s class was the biggest donor and will get a cupcake and ice cream party. Donations from the school and branch totaled $193.50.

Garfield Library has received $400 in children’s books as a part of a 2 to 1 matching grant from the Libri Foundation. The $150 in matching money was raised through library book sales.

Children’s Summer Reading program will start June 12 at 3 p.m. Adult and teen summer reading runs from June 1 through August 31.
