Colfax girls will face Reardan Friday night in the semi-final round of the sub-regional playoff when the girls side of the action moves to Walla Walla Community College.

Colfax junior forward Taylor Larsen takes the ball up for a shot in district playoff action.

The girls’ lineup will also feature an all-NE guard after a sweep for the northerners in the first round games at Dayton and Waitsburg.

Colfax goes up against Reardan after a 50-36 win over a Dayton team which put up a scrap before their fans on the home court.

Colfax again locked in their tough defensive game against the host Bulldogs to post a 33-15 lead at the break. Dayton had a tough time keeping possession of the ball, especially against the Colfasx press.

One drawback of the Colfax pressure was the foul load. Colfax starters Taylor Larson, Nicole Sheer and Bailey Mackleit all picked up a third foul in the second quarter and had to go to the bench.

Colfax weathered 22 foul calls in the game with Dayton hitting just 10 for 37 off the toss line.

Coach Corey Baerlocher used strong support from the bench to keep the Colfax lead going against Dayton.

Colfax posted a 33-14 halftime lead. The host club kept battling into the fourth quarter with McKayla Bickelhaupt, their senior bomber, hitting 16, most of the buckets off short routes inside the paint.

Senior Amelie Bruya topped Colfax with 18 points, including four three-pointers. Amara Huber pulled down nine rebounds for Colfax in the first-round game.

Reardan advanced to the Friday semi at the Dietrich Dome on a 71-38 win over the St. George’s Dragons. The first-round win extended the Indians season mark to 23-1. Kelsey Moos hit 27 points for the Indians.

Colfax and Reardan did not collide in the district show two weeks after the Bulldogs were derailed in the second-half of their semi-final game against Northwest Christian.

Colfax finished the NE show in third place, and that resulted in the matchup Friday against Reardan when last Saturday’s winners advance to the semi round.

The other semi Friday will match DeSales and Northwest Christian. DeSales girls, the lone SE team to advance to the semi card, stopped the LRS Boncos 38-21 at Waitsburg.

The Irish will play Northwest Christian, a 62-34 winner over Asotin, in the other semi-final at WWCC.
