Swannack attends nursing school reunion

Lamont

Bonnie Swannack recently attended a luncheon at the Red Lion in Riverfront Park for 26 of her classmates that graduated from The Deaconess School of Nursing 50 years ago. Judy Pagnotti from Mountlake Terrace, also a graduate with Bonnie, drove over and attended the luncheon and spent a few days visiting the Swannacks.

Lamont School has received an $80,000 grant to complete three projects at the school. The money will be used to replace the outside doors, replace the burner on the furnace and install a bathroom with handicap access.

Lamont Grain Growers reported all grain is harvested after a long wet spring which delayed planting and harvesting. The crops produced about 10 to 15 bushels better than most years. Average yeild was from 70 to 100 per acre. The manager said it was the most wheat taken in for the 10 years he has worked in Lamont.

Mike and Colleen Schmitt, representing the Gideons, were guest speakers at the Lamont Church Sunday. He reported the small Bibles are distributed in 94 languages and 194 countries. Mike also said every cent given to that group goes to printing and distributing Bibles.
