Red Hats roll to Spokane

On June 15 the Sprague-Lamont Red Hat Ladies club met at the Rock City Grill at the Spokane River Park Square for lunch. Those attending were Mary Anderson, Bea Butler, Jackie Brown, Kay Dirks, Anita Frederick, MArcia Landers, Jean Meyers, Shirley Miller, Nita Polda, Pat Peterson, Kathy Sheilds, Betty Stone, Nita Vold and Diane Cook. After lunch Betty, Pat, Nita P., Kay, Jackie and Kathy went to see the movie “Water for Elephants.”

Betty Stone and daughters Debbie Gaffney, Patty Ethredge and Carolyn Behrens drove to Couer d’Alene recently to spend the night and see the Travolta sisters in “The Wizard of Oz” at the North Idaho College.

Saturday night brought many friends and family members to Millers Hall in Ewan to help Betty Stone celebrate her 80th birthday, Debbie Gaffney her 60th and Jenifer Larson her 40th. Live music was preformed by the Rusty Vikings. All members are graduates of the Sprague high school class at which time the band was originated. Band members are Dick Sharp on bass and from the class of 1967, Roger Shawgo on organ and from the class of 1969, Jim Cree on drums and the class of 1970 and Kevin Gaffney on guitar and the class of 1970. The band has just been reorganized recently, after 40 years, for alumni and special events.

Larry and Mary Lee Adamson of Reno, Nevada, arrived on the 15th to visit family and friends. On Thursday they were luncheon guest at the home of Betty Stone. On Friday they had lunch with Kathy Shield and an afternoon visit with Bill and Stella Melville. They and their daughter Diana Kadeg of Redmond were also here to attend Betty and Debbie’s birthday party Saturday evening.

Don and Sherrill Nelson had Father’s Day Sunday dinners at the home of Keith and Staci Nelson and family in the Spokane Valley.
