All-class reunion slated for Oakesdale

Oakesdale High School plans an all-class reunion Saturday, July 3, at the Oakesdale School. A pancake feed put on by the Oakesdale Fire Department from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Oakesdale Fire Station will begin the day. Check-in for the reunion will be from 11 to 12:30 in the gym. Dinner, catered by The Feeding Station, will begin at 1 p.m.

The 2010 reunion planning committee includes Mike and Michelle Brown, Chris and Kari Ellis, Rodney Hubner, Ken and Karen Lindgren, Carl and Barbara Seutter, Rosemary Henrickson, Dennis Palmer, Kelli Meserve and Colleen Rose.

Oakesdale’s non-profit assisted living organization, Friends For Living Choices, will sponsor tours of the Castle and Steptoe Butte on the day of the all school reunion, July 3. These tours are available only by bus pick-up at 10 a.m. at the school and fire station. Donations will be accepted for the tour.

The group will also conduct a silent auction during the reunion dinner. Items available for bid will include: quilt made by Claudia Louk and quilted by LMNOP Quilting, two paintings by Joann Doneen, porch chair made by Rodney Hubner, a knife from Buckskin outfitters owned by Doug Bruce, Two etchings of the school by Lori McGee, book, silverware items or tape by Dick Warwick. A photo tote of the 1942 girls basketball team and one photo tote of the boys 1973 state basketball team made by Embroidery Specialists Jim and Jolene Warwick and a free one night stay and two dinners at the Couer d’Alene Casino. All of the proceeds will go towards advancing the assisted living project.

Drake Hinkins was recently selected as a recipient of a $1,700 WSU Alumni Association Legacy Leadership Award. A 2010 Oakesdale High School graduate, he will be attending WSU in the fall. He is the son of Doug and Diane Hinkins.
