Tekoa FFA, 4H members tune up for J-stock show

Saturday, April 24, Tekoa FFA and 4H competitors practiced for the Junior Livestock Show which will be May 4-7 in Spokane. Fifteen animals were shown by exhibitors on a very blustery day. The Spokane Junior Show will celebrate its 75th anniversary this spring.

Tekoa Community Church hosted a fundraiser breakfast Sunday, April 25. Donations will enable the youth of the church to attend Camp N-Sid-Sen on Lake Coeur d Alene.

A Boy Scout Tekoa Pack 597 cross-over ceremony April 14 at the Empire Theater included Webelo Scouts Jake Mueller, Trenton Gregory, Zachary McFarling, Frankie Allen and Dan Kittock.

Special guests were Eagles Scouts Brian Amos from the Potlatch Troop and Michael Olsen from the Spokane Troop.

Tekoa Community Fair Association welcomes the Palouse River Ropers Association to Tekoa’s Iron Horse Arena every third weekend, May 15-16 through August 21-22. On Saturdays they perform team roping and breakaway Jackpots at 6 p.m. for novices and all ages of competitors. Sunday events will be family rodeo minus rough stock for all skill levels. Events start at 9 a.m.

Palouse River Ropers events are open for all ages. Performances are free and open to the public. The cook shack will be open and there is plenty of room for parking and camping.

Also this summer, Eastern Washington Junior Rodeo Association will have competitors arriving June 26 and 27 for a clinic and rodeo. EWJRA is family oriented.

Members compete in sanctioned rodeos. On Saturday, clinics teach events that will be on Sunday. Clinics are open to youth between the ages of 0 and 18. Events include mutton busting, calf roping, team roping, bareback, and rough stock for older competitors plus other events. Time to be announced.
